On the ships, and at the parks too I believe, they have something called a "Magical Moment". It's something small that, surprisingly, goes a long way. Basically, whenever a guest has a special experience we print or write out a Magical Moment. A certificate that has their name on it, what their special moment was, the date and a disney quote that makes you feel warm and fuzzy. As Cast or Crew Members, we are allowed to write one out whenever we feel it's appropriate. I would write them out whenever a kid won a scavenger hunt, or got to dance around with goofy, or was voted the funniest kid of the group. Stuff like that. Other departments do it as well. Merchandise would fill one out for a guest who loves Stitch and Disney pins, write down "Biggest Stitch Fan" and then add a bunch of pins to it. It's really just a simple piece of paper but people go nuts over them.
So here are some of my Magical Moments from this contract. Most of them are super cheesy. Just so you know. In no particular order:
***Watching Disney DREAMS, the broadway style show that they have on board with Elsa on our first week. It gave me goose bumps. So good.
***This one is super cheesy. Sorry. At the end of Traditions (our training before getting on the ship), we received our name tags. We were sitting in the classroom and Mickey came in to hand them out. We're all grown ups and yet everyone was so excited to see Mickey Mouse. Haha. Awesome.
***Walking around Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, Epcot and Animal Kingdom with Elsa, Ewan, Carlos and April, knowing that we'd all be part of the magic.
***When we finished getting trained on board, Kenny (our trainer) made us a ceremony to be officially on the team. He made us (Elsa and I) a pinata. They blindfolded us and we beat the crap out of them. That was fun.
***Being called into the office and invited into Out&About with Sal and Joey.
***Going to the mess for Midnight Snack with Elsa & Manuel. From 1030pm to 1130pm the servers would bring down the left over food from the guest restaurants. Every once in a while we would get deliciousness like Sushi or steak or french fries or real ICE CREAM!!! Awesome. Latin Mafia forever! Haha.
***Welcoming Daniel to Out&About when Sal left. The beginning of the Dream Team.
***A little girl named Audrey around 7 yrs old. She tried to show a group of kids a magic trick and failed. She started crying uncontrollably until Carl and I convinced her to try again. She did, and with our help and the patience of the other kids it worked! Carl and I made her a Magical Moment Certificate that said "Best Future Magician". When I gave it to her, she read it out loud and the look on her face when she saw her name was priceless. She almost started crying out of pure excitement. She held the piece of paper with such care and told me that she would keep it for ever and ever. It was precious.
There are more. Stay tuned... :)
