Woo! Another post! Go me!
I'm currently in Nassau again. This time, I'm getting my free internet from the local McDonalds. I know how bad these fries are for you, but holy crap they're yummy. Even my mami should admit this. They're delicious. You know it.
I thought I would take this moment to tell you about the first and only excursion I've been on since being on the Wonder. A few weeks ago, my "late start" fell on a Nassau day. One of the girls that I work with, Jaime, and I decided to try to get into one of the Port Excursions that the guests take. If there is ever space available, they open it up for the crew. There are some pretty cool ones like, the Atlantis Resort Aquarium, or Atlantis Water Park, or snorkeling or Bus Tours of the City (a total waste of money btw). Then there are AWESOME ones like Dolphin Encounters and Dolphin Swims. They take you on this boat to another close-by island to a Lagoon called Blue Lagoon. They have Dolphins there and you get to hug them and kiss them and swim with them. Calm down, I didn't get to go on that one (unfortunately). But I did get the "Blue Lagoon Beach Day". It includes the boat ride to the Lagoon, a drink and Lunch. So Jaime and I got to go and it turned out to be a marvelous morning. We were only there for a grand total of 2 hours, but getting off the ship and being able to take off the name badge and act normal is a wonderful feeling.
We got to the place and looked at the map. I found the main bar and I found the beach that faced the ocean, rather than the boats. We went to the bar and ordered a Bahama Mama, the yummiest rum drink ever. These guys with big, crazy dreadlocks said hi to us and welcomed us to the Bahamas. We said "thank you" and pretended like we were on vacation. It was fun. Then we walked over to that one beach and discovered that it was beautiful. The best part was that there were no people and we were the only ones there. It was amazing. I swam for a little bit, we took pictures and then took an hour long nap. Glorious.
There was one hickup. There really seems to be no way of avoiding these things when I'm involved. At one point, I put down my lanyard with my Ship ID and credit card to take a picture. I must've left it there because when we were about to leave, I realized it wasn't with me anymore! I panicked and ran around trying to find it, even though I knew where I had left it. This was bad because they won't let you back onboard without it and they charge you a ridiculous amount of money to replace it AND I had like 20 min to get to work after the tour ended. NO BUENO! I hate that feeling. Finally, I went to the bar and asked if anyone had found it. The bar tender was very nice and said "Yes! We were looking for you!". YAY!!!! I get to go back on the ship and I don't have to pay another $35 to replace the stupid ID (which is also my room key).
Of course, all of my cash was gone (8 whopping dollars), but I didn't care. Go ahead and take it, it's worth me getting my stuff back.
So yeah :) It ended up being a good day.
There's this one excursion I REALLY want to do. It's new and I can't wait to put my request in.
It's called the Seal swim. You get to play and swim with seals for a few hours. Those animals have always seemed like so much fun and I would be soooo excited to frolic around in the water with them.
Here's a video of Blue Lagoon!
SOunds like you got a well deserved break! Looks absolutely beautiful there. I want pictures if you get to swim with seals or dolphins!!!!! love you! xoxoxo
