Why am I starting a blog? I don't know... It seems like the thing to do these days.

I'm finding that more and more people that I care about are leaving home and starting their own lives. Some are in another state, some in another country. Even the ones still in the desert are doing their own thing and are sometimes tricky to keep up with. Blogs seem to allow people to write about what they do, see, experience and think. It gives the person reading them a window into their lives. It's funny how something like this can go two ways. On one hand it's supposed to be completely anonymous. If a random person reads your blog, it's just that; a random blog. On the other hand, if you know the person who's writing, it can actually turn into something very personal. You know their style, you know their opinions, you catch their humor. You can figure out so much about how your friend is doing from a simple entry of just a few lines.

Sure, there's facebook. But I'm not really into constantly posting my life's happenings on a status update. So instead I'm doing it here, where the whole WORLD can see it (even those not on my carefully monitored "Friends" list)! Haha, makes sense, right? No, not really. That's ok though. I'm hoping that what I write will give my peeps a glimpse of what I'm doing. If others want to check out then awesome, go nuts.

Right now, my life isn't really exciting enough to write about. But I'm not really interested in writing about myself as much as what I see. Working on a cruise ship is something that I've wanted to do for some time now. I'm hoping that it'll give me an opportunity to not only get a kick-ass tan, but to meet and observe people from all over the world. Plus I'll get to travel a little bit, which is honestly the biggest perk of this shindig.

So! If I can manage to maintain a tiny little grain of discipline and post my observations on a regular basis, this whole thing has the potential of being semi-entertaining.
